OK. I’ve been on a (blog)roll loading foodie pics from da past… Here’s some Hawaiian sweet bread French toast from the Kahului Ale House (and coffee, of course), taken way back during the start of the ’09-10 NFL season. Why post now? Well, as a (still) proud KU fan, March Madness no longer exists to me, and I have some extra time on my hands ;-/ Also, a very distressing recent syrup-incident (I’m coping with too much frustration and embarrassment–and still, syrup–to recount now… perhaps, some other day… but, let’s just say Captain Ed. dubbed my computer a Belgian Laptop…), had me thinking of the last few times I had some good French toast. Thus, the (late)post!

Remember, early birds, no beer service until 8am!

Hmm… in looking back at this photo, I noticed a few forgotten clues to that long-ago day! The blue ticket under my xbf’s phone was for a free raffle hosted by the Ale House, giving away beer swag and football related goodies. We didn’t win, but our one of our neighbors did (a pretty sweet Heineken key-chain, which here in the 808 is a decent commodity).

Oh, how appropriate! Check out this mention of the new breakfast menu, in a 2009 article titled “Maui’s Gridiron Grinds,” HERE

OK. I saw an awesome episode of Throwdown! with Bobby Flay, where Flay takes-on restauranteur Omar Giner, in making Giner’s signature stuffed French toast (best part of the story, Giner invented the recipe while trying to impress his now-wife with a gourmet breakfast). The episode next airs on The Food Network on Sunday, April 3. http://www.foodnetwork.com/throwdown-with-bobby-flay/stuffed-french-toast/index.html
