Congrats to Bev Gannon and Haliimaile General Store on Silver for Best Hawaii Regional Cuisine #aipono

An afternoon at Hali’imaile General Store is dreamy, sipping their amazing margaritas and award winning mai tais, downing their superb Hawaii regional cuisine. I love the light here at daytime. But you know all that because they were voted and won silver for Best Hawaii Regional Cuisine. Bev Gannon says it was opened years ago as a delicatessen with gourmet take out, but she quickly acclimated to what her customers wanted, a nice spot to sit down in Hali’imaile and enjoy her food. Dinner is spectacular as well. You don’t win awards without busting your ass around here, and the team at HGS prove themselves year after year. If you haven’t stopped by recently then the time is ripe for you to bite.

Here’s the skinny from their camp:

Hali‘imaile General Store tied for the Silver Award for Best Hawai‘i Regional Cuisine at the 2012 ‘Aipono Awards Gala, held in the ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa in Ka‘anapali on Sunday, April 15. The restaurant has won Gold or Silver in this category eleven times since 2004, as well as ‘Aiponos for Best Dessert and Most Innovative Menu.

‘Aipono is Hawaiian for “excellence in food.” Sponsored by Maui No Ka ‘Oi magazine, the ‘Aipono Awards annually recognize the best of Maui’s food, wine and hospitality industries. Winners were selected by Maui No Ka ‘Oi readers, who voted by mail-in ballot or online at the magazine’s website, www.mauimagazine.net.
The 2012 ‘Aipono Awards gala was the largest in its history, with some 300 members of Maui’s restaurant industry attending. Proceeds from the event directly benefit Maui Culinary Academy and its students, tomorrow’s chefs.
