Tapas. It’s a word that begs to roll of your tongue and boomerang back morsels of deliciousness.
The tapas menu changes weekly at Bistro Casanova, with service beginning at 3pm. Last week, my mom and I indulged in bacon wrapped scallops with a vinaigrette reduction. Ah, Taste of Maui “research.”
Also, beginning at 4pm, Bistro Casanova’s craft drinks are just $5. Served in, well, glass crafts with tall straws, their as much fun to drink as they look. Mom (pictured) opted for a margarita, and since the whole mojito craze has finally …

Made the journey out West, this Wednesday, to get the scoops on Hard Rock’s upcoming 20th Anniversary (celebrating with The Ataris on Saturday, September 25), Maui Marathon happenings (Friday through Sunday, September 17-19), upcoming Pinktober benefit for breast cancer research, and The Dead Kennedys (!) (Friday, October 22)…
My marketing contact, Jill Holley, too-kindly hooked up a plate of ono fish tacos, with all usual the fixin’s and a side of avo. Good as the food was, my taste buds were best pleased by the raspberry lemonade, with frozen raspberries blended …

Spinach Enchilada Pie with side of black beans and Spanish rice ($10). At first thought the portion a bit light, but really, what am I expecting/good for me? Flavor is big, and I’m content!

Newly reopened yesterday, the locale formerly known as Cafe Marc Aurel is back in action—redecorated and renamed Wailuku Coffee Company.
Having this Market St. mainstay back warms a part of my heart that was sorely depressed by its absence (since May 16, but feeling MUCH longer).
The chillest spot during First Friday festivities, indulged in a chai tea AND chai tea latte.

Last month when I gathered a group of close friends togeter to attend David Paul’s Island Grill’s Diva Club I had no idea I was heading to one of the best themed parties I’ve attended on the island. We really took the Hollywood Glam theme to the next level with mandatory wigs and pearls for the girls in our group but as we arrived and paparazzi followed us down the red carpet, and handsome men in suits escorted us in we knew we were in the right place at the …

Special of the week at Pa’ina’s Grill: Hamburger Steak (mine, gravyless) for $4.95, including rice and steamed veggies. Ultra ono, with Maui Cattle Co. beef, topped with sauteed onions and mushrooms. Da veggies, however, are too buttered-up for my taste… especially when I’ve splurged on French fries for $2.
Chee hee! Loaded with Sriracha and mustard. Mmm…

OK. I’ve been on a (blog)roll loading foodie pics from da past… Here’s some Hawaiian sweet bread French toast from the Kahului Ale House (and coffee, of course), taken way back during the start of the ’09-10 NFL season. Why post now? Well, as a (still) proud KU fan, March Madness no longer exists to me, and I have some extra time on my hands ;-/ Also, a very distressing recent syrup-incident (I’m coping with too much frustration and embarrassment–and still, syrup–to recount now… perhaps, some other day… but, let’s just …

I’d go to Giannotto’s more often if I had the restraint to stick with the $1.98-ea slices of cheese pizza. Alas, I am a sucker for toppings…
More, but worth it!
